La Llorona
La Llorona, or the Weeping Woman, is the ghost of a woman who drowned her children, killed herself, and haunts the night, especially by riversides. Her story is repeated throughout Latin America.
These archetypes possess extraordinary powers, both to create life and destroy life. Wailing female ghosts appear in all cultures. In Ireland, they are called Banshees. Their wails are heard whenever someone dies.

An archetype threaded through the collective tapestry of human history. The notion of women as a vessel, weaker and inferior to men, filled by their sperm to achieve their ultimate purpose: producing children and serving others. Women unable to have children were referred to as "empty vessels."

A pattern of behavior marked by self-sacrifice and service to others at one's own expense. The martyr and the victim complex are closely related. The difference is that the victim does not perceive themselves to have control.

Warrior
The Warrior is a female archetype of great power. Cleopatra was a skilled naval commander, and Joan of Arc led the French army. Tomoe Gozen was a legendary female samurai.

Succubus
A Succubus is a female demon who seduces men and drives them to destruction. In the Odyssey, Ulysses orders his men to tie him to the mast to protect himself from being bewitched by the sirens. A woman who uses her sexuality for personal gain is called a "Femme Fatale" in France.

Spies and Assasins
Women can infiltrate into parts of society unavailable to men and get closer to the target. Closely related to the "femme fatale" archetype. The exotic dancer known as Mata Hari was a German spy during World War I.

An emotionally-charged symbol of passion, fertility, and death. The moon is associated with water (especially tides), magic, pagan rituals, witches, physical transformation (vampires), and shape-shifting (werewolves).
Wiccans use a triptych lunar symbol depicting a full moon flanked by the waxing and waning moons. The symbol denotes the three stages of life (Maiden, Mother, and Crone), representing enchantment, fertility, and wisdom.
